App en Regla

Every year, Google inspects your app.

If nobody has maintained it since the agency or developer who built it left, we bring it up to date. Fixed price and no jargon.

Why you got the warning

It works like a yearly vehicle inspection: people who already have your app can keep using it, but if it fails the check it stops reaching people through the store.

  1. Google Play only accepts updates for apps that target Android 16 (API 36). Apps still on Android 14 or older stop being shown to new users.

  2. The extension ends for developers who requested it in Google Play Console.

  3. Every year

Google raises the requirement by one level. Apple requires building with the latest Xcode to publish updates, and removes apps that have gone three years without an update and have very few downloads.

How we do it

  1. Free diagnosis

You tell us what the app is built with and what access you have. We tell you whether it is a simple update or a rescue, and what it costs.

  2. Tune-up

We update what is needed, build the app and test it on real Android phones and iPhones.

  3. Release

We publish it from your account through a user access you can revoke at any time. We never ask for passwords.

Frequently asked questions

I don't have the app's source code

Ask the agency or developer for it; it is usually in a repository or a zip file. If there is no way to recover it, the only option is to rebuild the app, which we quote as a rescue.

The Google Play or Apple account belongs to the agency

The app can be transferred to an account of yours, but the transfer has to be started by the owner of the current account. We help you request it.

The signing key (keystore) is lost

If the app uses Play App Signing, you can request a new upload key and Google usually approves it within a couple of days. We check this in the diagnosis.

My app was built with Bubble, Appy Pie, BuildFire or another no-code platform

In that case the platform builds the new version and you usually just request it from its dashboard. We tell you how, free of charge.

What happens if I do nothing?

People who already installed it can keep using it, but new users stop finding it and you cannot publish any improvement or fix until it meets the requirements.

I updated the app and I still get the warning

Google checks every track of the app, not only the public release. If an old build is still in internal, closed or open testing, or the new one was left as an unpublished draft, the warning stays. We review it in the diagnosis and it is often fixed without touching the code.

Who is behind it

App en Regla is run by Juan Carlos Rodicio, a developer in Seville, Spain. I publish and maintain my own apps, Cinepedia and Acierta la palabra, and every year they go through the same Google and Apple review as yours.
